I had a billing problem with this dentist office. They refilled my cavity that was done by my old dentist. They told me they got it pre-authorized by my Insurance company & it would be covered. So, I had the cavity refilled, the dentist was great, the place was attractive and clean, the staff were all super nice. I thought I had about as good experience as you could have, going to the dentist. Then, I found out that that I was on the hook for the full cost of the filling -- several hundred dollars. My insurance company denied it because the same filling had already been done within a 24 month period. I had told them I had the filling originally done 1 year ago by my previous dentist. They reassured me that it was preauthorized and I had nothing to worry about. I feel like the person who does the billing at this office has got to be dishonest and/or incompetent. She told me they did get pre-authorization from my insurance, so I asked her to see the pre-authorization paper so I could contest it with my insurance. Then she said there was no pre-authorization paper, they just looked up my benefits on the computer (??). Then she tried to tell me that they had no way of knowing my insurance would deny it. Isn't that the point of getting it pre-authorized! Needless to say, I will not be going back here. I do not have piles of money to throw down the drain, on top of paying for dental insurance. My recommendation is to go somewhere else.
